Junior Police Academy

The Junior Police Academy (JPA) is a branch of the Citizens Police Academy. The junior academy is designed to help educate youths in the community on police procedures and activities. Some of the topics discussed are traffic stops, drug education, K-9 program, firearms (non-shooting) and taser use. Officer Todd Kobitz is the JPA coordinator. Applications Available for Jr. Police Academy

High School Students Encouraged to Apply

The Valparaiso Police Department is accepting applications for their annual Jr. Police Academy. The Jr. Police Academy is open to any high school student that attends a high school in Porter County.

The academy is a great opportunity for high school students to learn more about a career in law enforcement. The Junior Police Academy (JPA) is a branch of the Citizens Police Academy. The junior academy is designed to help educate youths in the community on police procedures and activities. Some of the topics discussed are traffic stops, drug education, K-9 program, firearms (non-shooting) and taser use. All classes are held after school at the Valparaiso Police Department.

Applications are available at the Valparaiso Police Department located at 355 Washington St. Officer Todd Kobitz is the JPA coordinator. For more information about the program contact Officer Todd Kobitz at 462-2135 ext: 2367. Classes will begin the first week of April and all applications must be returned by March 21st.
