Welcome to the online reporting system. Certain types of reports, such as; lost property, damage to property, vandalisms and theft from vehicle reports can now be completed online. For a report to be completed online, all of the following must be true:
The incident is not an Emergency.
The incident occurred within the City of Valparaiso’s city limits.
There are no known suspects to the incident.
You may file an online case report for the following incidents:
Any Lost Property, (other than a lost license plate, this requires an officer).
Damage to Property- examples; grocery cart struck your car in a parking lot or a tree limb fell onto my vehicle.
Vandalism Report, (damages total less than $2500)- example; a mailbox was damaged.
Theft from Vehicle Report, (damages total less than $2500).
Upon completion and submitting a report, a confirmation will appear with the words, “Your report has been submitted”. Within two business days your report will be assigned a case number and you will receive, through email, a confirmation notice including the case number to your incident. Once you receive your case number a copy of your report can be obtained at the Valparaiso Police Department, located at 355 S. Washington St. Reports must be picked up in person at the police department.

Making a false crime report is a criminal offense under IC 35-44-2-2.
